Anyone had two c sections in less than 2 years ?

I'm 11.4 weeks pregnant and I have a 10 month old who was born by c section, it was meant to be elective but she came a week early so technically was an emergency, not sure if that makes a difference, I don't think it does.
There will be 17 months between the babies.

Will I be able to have another c section? I really don't want a vagin*l birth (had one with my first baby 8 years ago) but I'm worrying they will say it's not safe to have another section so soon.
Anyone been in a similar situation?

Hi, yes, I had 2 c sections in 11 months! Not really recommended, but I did not have any problems thankfully. Both elective.

My friend’s kids are 21 months apart - first one an emergency CS after failed induction and 2nd one planned after she reached due date and more and hadn’t gone into labour. I always CS was the preferred option in such circ*mstances?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 03/08/2023 21:06

I had 3 in 3 years, first was an emergency, second elective and 3rd was a sort of planned emergency (tried for a vbac but had plan B in place for as soon as things started to go wrong)

Yes 17 mths. First an emergency the second planned. My Obgyn normally recommended waiting 2yrs to get pregnant but due to my age I had to crack on. As the second was planned she was able to taker her time with it and recovery was much easier

Mine were just over 2 years apart (now 21 and 19). Second baby delivered by elective C-section after my body steadfastly refused to understand the concept of going into labour. My recovery was far quicker than the previous emergency C-section. What I would say, however, is that your lower abdomen will never be quite the same afterwards.

And was there any mention of any risks being heightened or anything ?
I did read about vbac and risk of scar rupture, so hoping this will be a reason they let me have another section

Yes one emergency and one planned, 18 months apart. No problems

I’ve had a total of 3. The first 2 were 12 months apart and the surgery and recovery were straight forward. My third was after 10 years. This one took the longest for the surgeons to do, but recovery was straight forward too. I had zero complications for all 3.

Should’ve mentioned that the first 2 were emergency sections and third planned

Mine were 21 months apart and there was absolutely no issue whatsoever.

Hi everyone, thanks for all that replied.
Just coming back to update - yesterday I saw the consultant who said because it's been less than a year and I'm pregnant again then I will be having another c section. She it's because of the risk of uterine rupture

I had 2 emcs 18 months apart. I really wanted a Vbac but it wasn’t to be - and luckily I was already in theatre when my uterus ruptured. Interestingly no one told me after my first cs that it would be better to avoid getting pg for at least a year post cs.

I’m glad your consultant has reassured you in terms of making sure you get the delivery you were hoping for.

Yes 20 months apart, I did haemorrhage with my second but no idea why. I was too out of it to ask and I told DH I thought I could feel wetness between my legs but was still frozen from the epidural, he looked under the sheet and said "don't worry, it's just your placenta 😊" had to remind him they'd already removed that during the section 😂

Mine doesn’t look thicker for having had 2 (but did look nearly invisible by the time I was pg again anyway). They mostly cut along the same line again (just annoyingly not at 1 end).

I was supposed to have 2 in 11 months but I lost the baby at 20 weeks. They told me it was safer than attempting a vbac less than a year after csection. In the end I had my 2nd csection when ds was 22 months old

My first scar was really big as it was an emcs due to cord prolapse at 32 weeks and he was luckily quite high up . My second scar was smaller and along the same line, well pretty much. My first is really uneven

I've had 4 c sections. My 2 youngest kids are 19 months apart. Everything was alright but they did give me the metal staples after the third and fourth rather than the dissolvable stitches. I had a few complications after my third section due to a lot of scar tissue inside and I had a catheter for three days. Recovery took slightly longer and I was in a bit more pain than normal. But fourth section went smoothly, the only negative was I was in a lot of pain after for about 3 days.
